Volunteer Opportunities
An organization like GSA would not exist without the dedication and commitment of its volunteers.

  1. Public relations (PR) and fundraising committee:
Anyone with interest, experience or willingness to help will be appreciated. This committee in the past has been instrumental in doing fund raisers as well as helping find sources of funding for special projects such as scholarships. They also are the ones who help keep the club on task of presenting itself well to the community through newspaper articles, web site information, ads, newsletters and other means of communication. This committee isn't hard and the work is scattered through the year with spurts of things to do and months of quiet. It is perfect for the folks who have limited time, but great community contacts and good ideas.
  2. Ethics committee:
This committee is an easy and quiet one but will be the judicial branch of our club. They will review complaints against players, parents and coaches and determine if the codes of conduct or ethics have been violated enough to warrant a fine or punishment and then will be responsible for determining the appropriate penalty. The ultimate response will be approved by the board but this committee is critical to keep all of us honest and fair. In years past this committee convened only once a year or less. It needs a minimum of 5 people from a variety of teams.
  3. Safety committee:
This committee is also easy. They will be primary responsible for making sure our players, parents and coaches are adhering to safety guidelines ie anchoring goals, hydrating properly, following the lightening mandates. They will also help set up our first aid kits for off site tournament fields and will help the registrar and manager with safety issues as they arise. This is a perfect volunteer position for a parent who has little time and an interest or experience in public safety.
  4. Board members and Managers:
The board and managers are the life blood of the club. They are the ultimate decision makers and also the ones who take the heat and credit. So leadership skills, a commitment to the kids and soccer as well as a sense of patience, prudence and humor might be the most critical requirements. If you have a passion for soccer, love Jonesville Park and the kids that play for GSA, we need you! Come and join us in making GSA the best it can be.
