Please Note Tryout Date/Time changes at the bottom

GSA Family,

Thank you for your support in the 2016-17 seasons. At this point in the year, club tryouts start to take shape. There have been some changes to the tryout process for next year’s teams, and we wanted to make sure that we communicated the changes to you as soon as possible.

The FYSA rules have changed considerably regarding tryouts, including the dates on which they can be conducted. Below is a list of dates and times for 2017-18 GSA tryouts . The dates represent just one of the changes to this year’s tryout process, the second change will primarily affect the structure of the tryouts. This year, tryouts will be conducted within the regularly scheduled team practice sessions, on the same practice days and at the same times. Players who are not currently members of GSA, but wish to tryout, will play and train in that day’s session with the age and gender appropriate existing team.

The primary benefits of the new structure, for your children, are that the previous stress and pressures associated with formal tryout sessions will be eliminated, and your child can be assured that his/her team placement will not be determined by performance in a couple of high-anxiety tryout sessions. All placements will be predicated on the players’ development and performance, as well as commitment, over the course of the 2016-17 seasons.

We are eager to begin the process of placing players and coaches, and the commitment information that is forthcoming will aid in streamlining that process. Because the tryout sessions are incorporated into team training sessions, players should be at all sessions. We will also hold additional sessions after the official spring season is over, and encourage all players to attend those sessions only to serve as another day to come out and play!

We know that tryouts are often a source of angst for players and parents, and believe that the new structure will not only eliminate that extra stress, but will also prove to be a much more efficient and effective way to incorporate new players into our program. There are likely to be small changes and tweaks along the way, but we are prepared, and we intend to ensure that you are equally prepared by maintaining communication with you throughout the process.

It is very important that we have ALL players who are interested in playing with one of our competitive teams in the 2017-2018 season register for tryouts. It is free of charge, quick and painless. Simply follow the link below and use the Username and Password listed at the bottom of this email.
